Lake Bled, its island and the Alps seen from the Ojstrica viewpoint
Where to go

Lake Bled’s unforgettable places.

The island is only the beginning. Find the character of each place, how to get there and where it fits into your stay.

Bled Island

A church tower rises from a tiny wooded island, reached by a traditional pletna or a hired rowing boat. The Church of the Assumption, its staircases and the local story of the wishing bell make this a visit to explore on foot, with time for potica before the return crossing.

Bled Castle

Stone courtyards, a cliff-edge panorama and more than a thousand years of recorded history. Look beyond the famous view to the museum, chapel and printing works, where Bled’s story meets the history of Slovenia’s written language.

Vintgar Gorge

The Radovna River cuts a narrow passage beneath forested cliffs, with wooden walkways bringing you close to the water. Give the gorge its own half day: the experience includes the one-way riverside walk, the return route through the landscape and the journey from Bled.

Lake Bohinj beneath the mountainsA day in the Julian Alps

Lake Bohinj

A broader Alpine valley and a different rhythm from Bled. Begin around Ribčev Laz and its stone bridge, explore the villages of Stara Fužina or Studor, or continue toward Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. Choose a few places and leave time beside the lake.

The lakeshore & Zaka

Follow the shore from the town toward Mlino, the western bays and the castle side. Grajsko kopališče, Mala Zaka and Velika Zaka each offer a different way to spend time by the water. Combine a stretch of the lake circuit with a café pause or a designated bathing spot.

Make the lake your own.

Bled is more than its famous view. A roughly six-kilometre shore path connects the town, bathing spots and quieter western bays; a traditional pletna boat takes you to the island, while the castle tells the story from above.

Give it two or three nights and the place opens up: walk through Vintgar’s river gorge, climb to Ojstrica, taste a slice of cream cake, or spend a day in the wider valley of Bohinj. Our guides connect the places, practical details and booking choices into a trip that feels your own.
